About our Company

Machipongo Trading Company began in April of 2008 as an outlet for our fresh-roasted gourmet coffees, VA peanuts, & hand-blended teas.  Our parent company, Eastern Shore Coastal Roasting Company, was started in May of 2006, and we soon recognized that the local demand for our products was increasing!  Located in an old Texaco building, right on Highway 13 in Machipongo, we got to work on refurbishing the empty building, & filling it with vivid color, reclaimed wood furnishings, repurposed equipment & furniture, & most of all, a POSITIVE spirit that reflected the nature of it's purpose...to serve the locals & travelers of the Eastern Shore with good wholesome food, beverages, great atmosphere, & more!

Over the past year & a half, we have really settled in, and we owe a debt of gratitude to our Loyal Locals, as well as those who have found us along the way, and revisit us again & again!  We are proud to be a VA Green business, using only compostable disposables in all of our to-go items.  We believe in great relationships--both with our customers & our product vendors.  Just ask about any of thegoodies that fill our shelves, & you'll hear about who makes them, how we know'em, or what we love about them!  Most of our products come from other small businesses that are making a difference in their own communities (be sure to check out the Goods Etc. page!).  Weare thrilledto serve all of our panini on fresh-baked bread from Sugar Plum Bakery in VABeach, which is a non-profit which supports & hires challenged individuals.  Our NY style bagels are baked for us by Beach Bagel Bakery in VA Beach, too!  We have loads of other locally & regionally baked goods as well (& some that we bake ourselves!).  And of course, we always have a selection of our freshly roasted coffees to take home, & we also offer a full Coffee & Espresso menu featuring our tasty java!  Fresh roasted peanuts??  Yup.  Refreshing smoothies?? Only the BEST!

In addition to our great customers, products, & atmosphere, we have an awesome group of Baristas here to serve you!  Here's a shout out to Robin, Cat, Mae, & Spookie for all their great work & awesome attitudes (MOST of the time!)...We truly look forward to hearing more from all of you, including your questions, comments & suggestions.  After all, you're who we're here for...
